My list of red headed super-ladies came up a bit short.
When I was a kid, every week I’d ride with my grandfather to the pharmacy and get a handful of comics while we waited. It was mostly the usual Batman, Spiderman, Wolverine, and things such as Dreadstar, Nexus, or The Mask. Their selection was never consistent so it was almost impossible to keep up with any story.
I think my favorite comic as a girl was Excalibur. Probably because they were British and seemed to have a lot more women than the other comics on that tiny rack. I’m glad to see Phoenix/Marvel Girl got a better haircut and a far more flattering outfit than when I used to read about her exploits in the early ’90s.
WTF girl, you’re trying to tell me you disliked her spiked red catsuit, weird face tattoos and rocker mullet? Disappointed. I grabbed a few Swamp Things as a child from a gas station, and that’s a lot weirder than anything you have listed… but I also loved X-Force, X-Factor and the Hulk at the time. A LOT. SRSLY, though, your list of redheaded super-ladies shouldn’t be too short. Black Widow, Medusa, Fairchild, Batgirl, Hawk Girl, Poison Ivy, Red Sonja, Starfire, Elsa Bloodstone, Mystique and Miss Martian can all be counted as reds… I guess that’s not TERRIBLY long, but I mean, you know.
